Every afternoon at 4:45pm my phone goes off. Not because I have another meeting. Not because I need to answer another email. Because it's time to become Dad again. And that small moment has changed everything. Because modern fatherhood isn't just about being there. It's about being present. It's about understanding that your children don't remember your job title, your salary, your workload or the pressure you're carrying. They remember how you made them feel. They remember the way you greeted them after school. The smile on your face. The tone in your voice. The energy you brought into the room.
And here's the hard truth: Many dads never make the transition. They leave work physically. But mentally? They're still carrying: The pressure The stress The frustration The next problem to solve And without realising it, they allow today's burden to shape tomorrow's relationship with their children.
This episode is about creating an intentional identity reset. A simple interruption. A trigger that helps you move from: Employee to Dad Founder to Dad Provider to Dad Operator to Dad Because your children aren't copying your role. They're copying your identity.
In this episode, we explore: Why children absorb identity more than instruction The hidden cost of bringing work stress into the home How loneliness, pressure and overwhelm affect the man your children see Why "being there" and "being present" are not the same thing The power of creating a daily reset ritual How small moments shape lifelong memories The importance of defining the identity you want your children to inherit Most importantly... You'll learn why one simple phrase: "This moment shapes their forever." Can completely transform how you show up after the school run, after work, and during the moments that matter most. Because every interaction teaches them something. Every conversation. Every greeting. Every response. Every moment of presence or distraction. And whether you realise it or not... Those moments become part of their future identity.
So let me ask you: When your children describe you at 25... What will they say?

Your children know you as Dad. But do they actually know you? Modern fatherhood can easily become a constant list of responsibilities: work, school runs, activities, homework, meals, problems and keeping the family moving. And somewhere inside all that usefulness, the man underneath Dad can quietly disappear. In Episode 72 of Answer Me This, I explore what it means to let our children know who we really are without asking them to carry adult problems that were never theirs to hold. What You’ll Learn
Ambition is not the enemy. But what happens when the future starts getting more of you than your family does? As dads, we want to provide, build, protect and create opportunities for our children. But sometimes the chase for a better future slowly takes us away from the very people we say we are doing it for. In Episode 71 of Answer Me This, I ask one of the hardest questions ambitious fathers need to answer. What You’ll Learn
What if the behaviour you're trying to stop is actually your child trying to tell you something? When our children answer back, push boundaries, refuse, shout or demand control, it's easy to move straight into correction mode. But sometimes behaviour is the signal, not the whole story. This week, I look at one of the hardest challenges I've faced with my eldest son: understanding the difference between behaviour that needs correcting and behaviour that may be asking for connection. What You'll Learn
You finish work. But has work finished with you? Because your children don't see the deadline, difficult conversation or financial pressure you're carrying. They simply experience the Dad who walks through the door. In this episode of Answer Me This, I'm exploring one of the hardest transitions in modern fatherhood: moving from the pressures of work, ambition and responsibility into the emotional presence our families need from us. What You'll Learn
Modern fatherhood asks men to provide, protect, parent, support, communicate, lead and stay present. But what is all that pressure doing to us? Because our children don't only inherit what we intentionally teach them. They also inherit the patterns we've never faced ourselves. What You'll Learn
