Show Notes

Richard Diamond, Private Detective presents “The Betty Moran Case,” episode 6, originally broadcast on NBC on May 29, 1949. Dick Powell stars as the wisecracking New York sleuth Richard Diamond in this early series installment, written by Blake Edwards and John Michael Hayes.

When wealthy Betty Moran is found dead after a blackmail-related shooting, the police see a straightforward murder-suicide. Her husband suspects the blackmail scheme is still alive, however, and hires Diamond to uncover the missing partner behind it. Diamond’s trail leads through Broadway offices, police headquarters, and familiar encounters with Lt. Walt Levinson and Sgt. Otis.
