Show Notes

You can know your partner incredibly well and still have very different ideas about money. From how much to save and spend to how you share expenses and plan for the future, those differences can shape the financial decisions you make together. In this episode of CIBC Smart Advice, host Carissa Lucreziano sits down with financial psychologist and Certified Financial Planner Dr. Brad Klontz to explore the beliefs and experiences that influence how couples approach money.

Brad explains how “money scripts” can develop from our earliest experiences with money, why partners often bring very different financial perspectives into a relationship, and how those differences can actually create greater balance. He also discusses how couples can navigate saving and spending, decide how to share expenses, set individual and shared financial goals, and build a financial system that evolves as their lives change.
