“Pop quiz: What do The Flintstones, The Wild Wild West and Car 54, Where Are You? have in common? Is it that they could ALL have used more Victor Buono? Well, frankly, YES. But more importantly, they’ve all had big screen re-makes/re-imaginings for this episode! Yes, as usual, we do the work, so you don’t have to, and there’s a lot of ground to cover. Sitcoms, cartoons, cop shows and SNL sketches (??) have gotten so many theatrical incarnations that this Ep could be one of a series we do. So pull up a chair, turn up the volume and get ready to play along as you inevitably yell more titles at the speakers as we explore ‘From Small Screen to Silver Screen’ on the new episode of Pod Stallions.

Download the Show here It's October, and the witching weather is slowly upon us. Or it could be the wind whipping up from Outpost 31 in Antarctica as we're about to celebrate one of the seminal horror/sci-fi films of our lifetimes: John Carpenter's 'The Thing' (1982). There's not much more to say about the brilliance of Carpenter's masterpiece (to us, anyway), but in the spirit of creepy and spooky, we thought it was well past time to show it some love. It's also one of those movies that's synonymous with VHS rentals, and if you're like us, you rented it repeatedly to study all its nooks and crannies. We STILL do to this day: it has story, chills, great acting and characters, and the most extraordinary physical effects of its time, but there's still a little nugget or two to catch the first time. We even give some time to the ill-fated 2011 'prequel' Thing, and suggest a back-to-back viewing to enhance the original even more. It's never a bad time to throw on The Thing, but October belongs to fright, so no time like the present. Enjoy! And be sure to leave comments about who YOU think is The Thing in the closing credits!
