Welcome back to another episode of Through a Different Lens! This week Joe, Deji, and Jacob sit down with special guest Taofiq — aka Australia's adopted son — for a raw, unfiltered conversation about his football journey.
In Part 1, Taofiq takes us from his time at the Nike Academy and Burnley, through a brutal spell at non-league Welling where he was isolated and bullied by his manager, all the way to the decision that sent him halfway across the world to Australia. He opens up about mental health, therapy, football insurance (or lack of it), toxic agents, racism and the "attitude" narrative in football, losing the love of the game, and the chaotic reality of the non-league merry-go-round — including playing for four clubs in three weeks.
This is one of the most honest conversations we've had on the pod. Grab a drink, get comfortable, and dive in.

Who decided these people didn't matter?
Joe is in Philadelphia and Jacob is on the move, but the NFL episode still gets delivered. We each went to a game this weekend: Jacob at Jaguars vs Texans at Wembley, and Joe at Eagles vs Panthers in Philly. We break down both, then get into the Jalen Hurts blood clot situation and the questions it raises about team doctors, travel and who gets cleared to play.
A GP, an aesthetics doctor and now a skincare founder. Dr Adetola Adegoke (Dr Tola) joins us to talk about building Yokuro, a luxury skincare brand made end to end in Nigeria.
Week 5 of the NFL was a week of mistakes, and we’re breaking down all of it. Joe, Dej and Jacob cover the London game, the Commanders and Giants tie, the Seahawks and 49ers shootout and Ravens vs Falcons without Lamar Jackson. They also debate whether Nick Sirianni is a scapegoat, how long Cam Ward should get, and who the real MVP is on the Lions’ offense.
Peez is back, and he's basically the fourth member of the team at this point. 😂
