Dimension X, episode 38, “Childs Play,” originally broadcast on NBC on June 24, 1951. Adapted by George Lefferts from William Tenn’s 1947 Astounding Science Fiction story, this satirical tale stars Leon Janney as struggling New York attorney Sam Webber.
In December 1945, Sam receives an impossible package from the future: a children’s Build-A-Man set, complete with detailed instructions. As pressures at work and in his personal life mount, the extraordinary kit presents a tempting—and unsettling—possibility. Fred Weihe directed and William Welch produced.
Old Time Sci-Fi Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
