Something I love about Reddit is the community aspect of the site. When you’ve had an unusual experience, you’re sure to find somebody in some sub somewhere that can relate to you in a way. This is especially reassuring, and interesting to the broader public, for people who have spotted cryptids! When you’ve had a horrifying encounter with a creature that doesn’t fit the mold of what you learned about in biology, it can feel as though you’re going insane. But not on Reddit! So for National Park Week, I’ve pulled several stories from a handful of subs that detail some spooky encounters with something science hasn’t been able to explain out in the woods… at least not yet.

I feel like attempting to contact the spirits of the dead at least once is like a rite of passage for all who would have put themselves in the category of ‘spooky.’ And just as we’ve said so many times on this podcast, you never know what’s waiting for you in the darkness when you’re reaching out. Today, I’ve brought you several stories from our listeners who took a chance with a ouija board and made contact with something much darker than they intended!
Every Monday for the month of October, we’ll be telling the histories and haunting mysteries of some of the world’s most horrifying haunted houses.
