Haere mai Welcome to Chafing the dream with the kiwi American running couple duo. This episode we have a little fun with 3 folks freaky enough to enter Ring of Fire 100k. We were able to sneak off some voice diaries of their latest training. The first RoF soul is Mike Lea (listen to a full interview with this fella on Episode 19). He was a previous professional mountain biker turned to domination of the trails. He gives us insight in types of training runs he has been doing and how he is feeling about the race. You can follow him on the gram here. Our second RoF voice diary is Katie White. You can follow her on the gram here. She updates us on what it's like to train for the Ring of Fire on North Shore. She is trained by Simon Cochrane and shares her confidence going into RoF. She has an impressive previous year resume winning the Northland 100 in the 50k and second place finish at Taupo 100k. Our final RoF nutter flutter is Bradley Houghton. You can follow along with him on his instagram page. Oh Bradley. He sounds as prepared for this race as a fly stuck in a freezer. Just kidding, we are stoked for him. He gives us his honest take on his training and that he isn't planning on slaying dragons out there BUT he does slay dragons on your email inbox every Monday morning. So do subscribe to his weekly newsletter here. Well, well, well what do you know. Dan has graduated from accountability assholes. Dan has ran 7 parkruns and we have made a consecutive decision to end harassing him on this pod. Let us know if we need to hold anyone else accountable and be assholes about it.
Thanks for the listen. Haere ra

Kia ora haere mai Welcome to another episode with Mal and Dwayne. We start the episode talking about our training. Dwayne’s taper week leading up to Taupo and Mal’s Frihaka plus being plagued with illness. Seems to be a reoccurring issue in this podcast.
Kia ora Welcome to another great episode with Mal and Dwayne. We start this episode doing some housekeeping.
Kia ora welcome to another episode of Chafing the Dream with Mal and Dwayne.
Kia ora Welcome to a funnnn episode of several different voices besides the usual Mal and Dwayne yarning and yarning and yarning away. I don't know if you can tell at this point, but I (Mal) writes the pod description and truly believe nobody even reads this bloody thing. Anyways...
This week Mal and Dwayne share their recent training progress, Mal has an updated lift program which she is very excited about and Dwayne is staring down the barrel of the Taupo 100km in a little over 3 weeks. They also go over the recent results from the local half marathon, as well as Dwayne's experience running as the 1:40 pacer. Lastly the up coming mile series has both Dwayne and Mal very excited. And it's not just that Mal is excited to hear a measurement in the imperial units. The track has a special place in her heart and she's hoping more people will discover this passion. So hold on to your earbuds as this might turn into a track podcast for a few weeks. If you want to sign up to race The Mile you can do so here: https://hatea.run/event/the-mile/ Entry closes 4th Oct.
