And yet it’s also the most successful, in terms of sheer predictive power. Simply by following the math of quantum mechanics, incredible discoveries have been made. Its wild success tells us that the mathematical description provided by quantum mechanics reflects deep truths about reality. And by far the most successful, most predictive formulation of quantum mechanics is quantum field theory. It is our best description we have of the fundamental workings of reality. And the first part of quantum field theory that was derived – quantum electrodynamics – is the most precise, most accurate of all.Written and Hosted by Matt O’Dowd Produced by Rusty WardGraphics by Kurt RossMade by Kornhaber Brown (www.kornhaberbrown.com)Comments answer by Matt:Feynstein 100https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYkaahzFWfo&lc=z131sffqsqqcfxaai04cgtoghljatf0isjsVacuum Diagramshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYkaahzFWfo&lc=z12is3mb3oj2evimc23md5ipdy2xvb33yNorbert Laskowskihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYkaahzFWfo&lc=z13pgnpporizujnxn04cgrkr5vedjxmz3rc0kChristian Haashttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYkaahzFWfo&lc=z13rdjbjiseovl2tn22iur55jxnvifmgt04John LaBriehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYkaahzFWfo&lc=z13dtlmqjoesypdgk04cin3jmzmosjpplcwSpecial thanks to our Patreon Big Bang, Quasar and Hypernova Supporters: Big BangShane RobinsonDavid NicklasEugene LawsonJoshua DavisQuasarTambe BarsbayCoolascatsMax LevineHypernovaChuck ZegarJordan YoungRatfeastJohn HofmannJoseph Salomone Martha HuntCraig PetersonProf. Dr. Kenneth Michael BeckScience Via MarketsThanks to our Patreon Gamma Ray Burst Supporters: Justin LloydSultan AlkhulaifiAlex SetoConor DillonJared MooreMichal-Peanut KarmiBernardo HigueraErik SteinDaniel LyonsKevin WarneJJ BagnellJ RejcAmy JieAvi GoldfingerJohn PettitShannan CatalanoFlorian StinglmayrYubo DuBenoit Pagé-GuitardNathan LenizJessica FraleyLoro LukicBrandon LabonteDavid CraneGreg WeissThe Great Courses Plus is currently available to watch through a web browser to almost anyone in the world and optimized for the US market. They’re born inside of a cloud of gas and dust, they live their lives fusing hydrogen into helium in their cores, shining bright and stable for as long as that hydrogen lasts. Then they die, each going out in its own beautiful way. How a star dies depends on its mass. The bigger they are, the shorter their lives and the more sublime their deaths. Sometimes our musings are insightful, sometimes incoherent, and usually at least somewhat naive. Which a fair description of this show, so of course Space Time needs to weigh in physics and free will..Check out the Space Time Merch Storehttps://pbsspacetime.com/Sign up for the mailing list to get episode notifications and hear special announcements!https://mailchi.mp/1a6eb8f2717d/spacetimeHosted by Matt O'DowdWritten by Matt O'Dowd and Bahar GholipourGraphics by Leonardo Scholzer, Yago Ballarini, and Pedro OsinskiDirected by: Andrew KornhaberAssistant Producer: Setare GholipourExecutive Producers: Eric Brown and Andrew KornhaberEnd Credits Music by J.R.S. Although according to a new paper, it may literally be infinitely smaller than we previously thought.Sign Up on Patreon to get access to the Space Time Discord! https://www.patreon.com/pbsspacetimeCheck out the Space Time Merch Storehttps://pbsspacetime.com/Hosted by Matt O'DowdWritten by Matt O'DowdGraphics by Leonardo Scholzer and Adriano LealDirected by: Andrew KornhaberExecutive Producers: Eric Brown and Andrew Kornhaber End Credits Music by J.R.S. Schattenberg: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRl6-nb4iOnsij-vnpAjp0QEvery time you walk out the door, light from the Big Bang strikes your face, enters your eyes. This is the cosmic microwave background radiation - the left-over heat-glow from the very early universe. We can’t see this microwave light with our eyes, but we can catch it with even a simple radio antenna. As soon as we became aware of its existence we’ve been feverishly building better and better devices to collect it. Why? Because it encodes so many secrets. And within this light, a group of scientists have just found evidence of the limits of space. A clue that our universe may be actually be finite in size. Today on Space Time Journal Club we’ll delve into the Nature Astronomy paper that just reported this: Planck evidence for a closed Universe and a possible crisis for cosmology by Eleonora Di Valentino, Alessandro Melchiorri, and Joe Silk.Special Thanks to Our PatreonsBig BangAlexander TamasAndrew and BrennaCraig StonahaDavid BarnholdtDavid NicklasFabrice EapJohn SJuan BenetMatt MillerMorgan HoughQuasarMark HeisingMark RosenthalVinnie FalcoHypernovaChuck ZegarDanton SpiveyDonal BotkinEdmund FokschanerHank SJohn HofmannJohn PollockJohn R.
