The Assassination Of President Lincoln: The Full Story Of The KGC Conspiracy
Timeline - World History DocumentariesSummary
Scott Wolter, a forensic geologist, investigates the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, suggesting that the historical narrative surrounding the event may be incomplete. He meets with John DeSalvo, a collector of Lincoln memorabilia, who presents artifacts including a blood-stained piece of Ford's Theatre curtain and a diary detailing the hours following Lincoln's assassination. DeSalvo posits that John Wilkes Booth, commonly believed to be a lone gunman, may have had accomplices and connections to a larger conspiracy involving the Confederate secret society known as the Knights of the Golden Circle.
Wolter uncovers evidence that Booth was not acting alone, as he had ties to other conspirators who aimed to assassinate key figures in the Union government, including Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William Seward. The investigation reveals that Booth had connections to Confederate sympathizers and possibly received support from the Knights of the Golden Circle, a group that sought to perpetuate the Confederacy's influence even after the Civil War. The discussion raises questions about the motivations behind the assassination, suggesting that it was part of a broader plan to destabilize the Union and potentially establish a new Confederate empire in the Americas.
As the investigation deepens, Wolter explores the possibility that the Knights of the Golden Circle still exist today, guarding hidden caches of gold and arms intended for a revival of their cause. The narrative intertwines historical events with modern implications, hinting at a legacy of secret societies that may continue to influence contemporary politics and society. Wolter's findings challenge the accepted history of Lincoln's assassination, proposing a complex web of conspiracies that extend far beyond the actions of a single individual.

Prince Charles Edward was Queen Victoria's favourite grandson. In 1900, the sixteen-year-old Prince was the only viable British contender for the hugely wealthy Dukedom of Saxe Coburg and Gotha in Germany. Ordered to go by Queen Victoria, he took the title and was transformed from a British Prince into a German Duke - Herzog Carl Eduard. The course of his life was altered in ways neither he nor Queen Victoria could have ever imagined. At the outbreak of the First World War, Prince Charles Edward had no option but to fight for Germany against the country of his birth. When the War ended, he was stripped of his British titles, and an Act of Parliament branded him a Traitor Peer. Disillusioned and depressed, Charles Edward became an enthusiastic supporter of Adolf Hitler's National Socialist Workers' Party, and unwittingly helped him in his rise to power. Appointing him President of the Anglo German Fellowship, Hitler offered Charles Edward a way to return to Britain with his head held high. Charles Edward was also President of the German Red Cross, and it was this that would ultimately embroil him in the darkest aspects of the Nazi regime, implicating him in the T4 Euthanasia Programme. At the end of the Second World War, he was arrested by the Americans, held in a series of harsh internment camps and forced to undergo a humiliating trial where, despite his claims he had no knowledge of the crimes of the regime, he was adjudged to have been an important Nazi and was almost bankrupted by heavy fines. He died in poverty and obscurity in Germany in 1954. His sister Princess Alice, who had stayed in England, became one of the most popular members of the Royal Family and a favourite aunt of Queen Elizabeth II. She was the living embodiment of the life her brother could have had, if it had not been for Queen Victoria's fateful decision fifty years earlier. Documentary first broadcast in 2007. This is an extraordinary story of the most disturbing witch trial in British history and the key role played in it by one nine-year-old girl. Jennet Device, a beggar-girl from Pendle in Lancashire, was the star witness in 1612 in the trial of her own mother, her brother, her sister and many of her neighbours; thanks to her chilling testimony, they were all hanged. Although the events in this film may date back four hundred years, its issues resonate today as much as ever - when to believe our children, and how, in times of crisis, fear of evil can easily lead us to behave in ways which may corrode the very values that we most wish to protect.Presented by Simon Armitage - poet, playwright and novelist - this film is peppered with his revealing insights into the characters' emotional turmoil and cutting-edge use of animation, bringing this courtroom drama to life. Four hundred years on, the trial's issues resonate as much as ever - when should we believe our children, and just how powerful can the fear of evil be? It's like Netflix for history...
