Should we all be in therapy? With Ailey Jolie and Maya Raichoora

Well Enough

Show Notes

Therapy has never been more widely discussed - or more debated. But do we actually need it as much as we think? And when it comes to our feelings, are we receiving too much validation, or not nearly enough? Today, we’re joined by Ailey Jolie, a chartered psychologist who specializes in the mind–body connection and trauma processing. Her work explores embodiment, self-compassion, and how to move beyond the stories we tell ourselves. Alongside her is Maya Raichoora, the UK’s leading expert on visualization and mental fitness. She has coached elite athletes and high-powered executives on resilience and peak performance, and her book Visualize reveals how to think, feel, and perform at the very top of your game. Together, we ask whether therapy is always the answer, what true resilience looks like, and how self-compassion and visualization can help us live, feel, and perform more fully Follow Well Enough on Instagram here Follow Emilie on Instagram here Subscribe to the Well Enough newsletter here

Comedian, presenter and Off Menu co-host Ed Gamble has spent more than 25 years living with Type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed at just 13 years old, he describes managing the condition as "like having another job" - a constant balancing act of food, insulin, exercise, stress and everyday life. In this episode, Ed opens up about growing up as a self-described "fat kid", the complicated relationship with food that inspired his memoir Glutton, and how living with a chronic condition has shaped his understanding of health, control and wellbeing. We discuss the mental load of diabetes management, male body image, perfectionism, social media wellness trends, and why trying to optimise every aspect of your life can sometimes make you feel worse, not better.
