Show Notes
Gunsmoke presents “Sheep Dog,” episode 266 of the classic CBS radio series, originally broadcast May 12, 1957. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon in this fifth-season drama, written by Les Crutchfield and directed by Norman Macdonnell.
After a poker-game dispute leaves a man wounded in Dodge City, Dillon sets out to bring the suspected shooter into custody. But the case becomes deeply personal when the young man’s sheep-farmer father—an old friend of Dillon’s—refuses to give him up. Parley Baer, Georgia Ellis, and Howard McNear co-star as Chester, Kitty, and Doc.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
