Kia ora Welcome to another Chafing the Dream episode where plenty of chafing happened this weekend at the Kings Backyard Ultra. There was New Zealand records broken at the 24 hour mark with the most runners still standing at 16! There were also 3 newbies still standing at that 24 hour mark. The last man standing was the previous 2024 winner Anthony Kerr-Taylor and the last female standing was the ultra a day Shannon Leigh-Litt. We couldn't help but share some our favourite stories like Roberta representing Lithuania for her satellite team, Alex Nicholson our favourite local firefighter, and Emma's heart breaking DSQ. Mal was lucky enough to be on the mic most of Sunday, after the 100-miles or 24 hour/lap mark. She was able to see and get emotional with the stories runners shared. Dwayne and Mal discussed the winners of Kings, the rationale behind the disqualifiers and the weather. Because running races can never not bring up the weather. We also did a brief run down of our training, lactate threshold testing, and our upcoming event. Thanks as always for the listen. Keep chafing your dreams. Byyyyyyyyyeeeee

Kia ora welcome to another episode of Chafing the Dream with Mal and Dwayne.
Kia ora Welcome to a funnnn episode of several different voices besides the usual Mal and Dwayne yarning and yarning and yarning away. I don't know if you can tell at this point, but I (Mal) writes the pod description and truly believe nobody even reads this bloody thing. Anyways...
This week Mal and Dwayne share their recent training progress, Mal has an updated lift program which she is very excited about and Dwayne is staring down the barrel of the Taupo 100km in a little over 3 weeks. They also go over the recent results from the local half marathon, as well as Dwayne's experience running as the 1:40 pacer. Lastly the up coming mile series has both Dwayne and Mal very excited. And it's not just that Mal is excited to hear a measurement in the imperial units. The track has a special place in her heart and she's hoping more people will discover this passion. So hold on to your earbuds as this might turn into a track podcast for a few weeks. If you want to sign up to race The Mile you can do so here: https://hatea.run/event/the-mile/ Entry closes 4th Oct.
