⭐️He Who Knows Love:

In this episode of Mild Mannered Supermen, we leave the Genesis catalog for the first time to explore Steve Hackett's remarkable 1975 solo debut, Voyage of the Acolyte. Recorded while Hackett was still a member of Genesis, this groundbreaking album gave fans their first glimpse of the musical world he was eager to create beyond the band.

We uncover the fascinating inspiration behind the album, including Kim Poor's influence on Hackett's artistic journey and the rich symbolism of the Tarot cards that inspired each composition. From the creative spark of “Ace of Wands” to the spiritual mystery of “Hands of the Priestess,” the destruction of “A Tower Struck Down,” and the epic finale “Shadow of the Hierophant,” we explore how Hackett transformed the Major Arcana into one of progressive rock's most imaginative solo albums.

We also break down the incredible lineup of musicians who helped bring the album to life, including Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, John Hackett, Sally Oldfield, Percy Jones, and John Acock, discussing how Voyage of the Acolyte became a fascinating bridge between the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis and the band's next chapter.

Join Mild Mannered Supermen as we dive deep into one of progressive rock's most overlooked masterpieces—an album that proved Steve Hackett was far more than Genesis's lead guitarist and hinted at the extraordinary solo career that lay ahead.
