Jeff Howe, Coach Bob Shipley and Lifetime Longhorn Marcus Myers examine the recurring problems that finally caught up with Texas in its 27-24 loss to Oklahoma. The Longhorns surrendered two non-offensive touchdowns, committed costly penalties and watched 9 of their 15 possessions end after four plays or fewer with a punt or turnover. After another uneven performance, the panel asks whether inconsistency and poor discipline have simply become the identity of the Sark era.
Coach Shipley explains why Steve Sarkisian must conduct an honest evaluation of his offense and begin getting Texas’ playmakers the ball in space instead of relying so heavily on slow-developing concepts and deep shots. The guys also discuss fixing the disastrous special teams, using Derrek Cooper and Jermaine Bishop more consistently and reducing the burden on Will Muschamp’s defense. With Florida coming to Austin and no easy games remaining, Texas must change quickly—or risk watching a championship season unravel.

Jeff Howe, CJ Vogel and Hank South evaluate Texas’ 2026 freshman class at the halfway point of the season. Jermaine Bishop Jr., Richard Wesley and Derrek Cooper have separated themselves as the Longhorns’ “Big Three,” and the offense consistently looks more dangerous when Bishop and Cooper are involved. With Texas entering must-win territory, both freshmen need significantly larger roles during the second half of the season.
Jeff Howe, Bobby Burton and Rod Babers identify realistic in-season fixes for a Texas offense producing three-and-outs at a historically poor rate. The Longhorns must simplify the attack, turn perimeter throws to Ryan Wingo and Jermaine Bishop into an extension of the running game and repeatedly use the bunch, stack and unbalanced formations that have already generated explosive plays. The message for Steve Sarkisian is clear: stop abandoning what works and play the hits.
