Haere mai Welcome to a fun episode with Tara Wilson from Sport Northland. Dwayne and Mal ask details of how Tara ended up at Sport Northland, history of Sport Northland, what position she started (hint she was a barista at the local cafe), and details of our upcoming favourite local race, Parihaka Half Marathon. We talk about previous years where this poor race has been cursed from slips to cyclones. Tara shares with us the history and meaning of the Parihaka pōwhiri at the start of the race. Here is a link to check out the video. Finally please enter our giveaway or enter your friend for a giveaway to Parihaka it can be any of the distances, the half marathon, the 12k or the 6k. It is such a beautiful event and Sport Northland always does a fantastic job bringing the community together. Kia ora haere mai Welcome to another episode with Mal and Dwayne. We start the episode talking about our training. Dwayne’s taper week leading up to Taupo and Mal’s Frihaka plus being plagued with illness. Seems to be a reoccurring issue in this podcast.

Kia ora welcome to another episode of Chafing the Dream with Mal and Dwayne.
Kia ora Welcome to a funnnn episode of several different voices besides the usual Mal and Dwayne yarning and yarning and yarning away. I don't know if you can tell at this point, but I (Mal) writes the pod description and truly believe nobody even reads this bloody thing. Anyways...
This week Mal and Dwayne share their recent training progress, Mal has an updated lift program which she is very excited about and Dwayne is staring down the barrel of the Taupo 100km in a little over 3 weeks. They also go over the recent results from the local half marathon, as well as Dwayne's experience running as the 1:40 pacer. Lastly the up coming mile series has both Dwayne and Mal very excited. And it's not just that Mal is excited to hear a measurement in the imperial units. The track has a special place in her heart and she's hoping more people will discover this passion. So hold on to your earbuds as this might turn into a track podcast for a few weeks. If you want to sign up to race The Mile you can do so here: https://hatea.run/event/the-mile/ Entry closes 4th Oct.
