Great Red Lake Gold targets copper exploration and 2027 drilling at Bilton-Brown project

Proactive - Interviews for investors

Summary

Great Red Lake Gold Corp, a newly established mining company, pivots its focus from gold to copper exploration following a strategic spin-out from Highland Critical Minerals. The company, which became a standalone entity in late 2026, has recently acquired a copper property in Ontario's Sault Ste. Marie area, marking a significant shift in its operational strategy.

The new property, known as the built-in brown property, boasts historical mineral showings that the company aims to verify and potentially upgrade to 43-101 compliance through an upcoming geophysical campaign. This initial phase will involve ground sampling and administrative preparations for future drilling, anticipated to commence in early 2027. The property’s accessibility throughout winter months provides a logistical advantage, allowing for continuous exploration activities.

With copper's rising importance in the industrial sector and its historic price trends, Great Red Lake Gold Corp sees this project as a vital contribution to North America's supply chain. The company plans to initiate geophysical work imminently, with results expected to guide further drilling efforts in the spring of 2027.

Show Notes

Great Red Lake Gold Corp Chief Financial Officer Brian Morales joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company's move into copper exploration, its acquisition of the Bilton-Brown property in Ontario and plans to advance the project toward a potential drilling program in 2027.

Morales explained that Great Red Lake Gold became a standalone public company following its spinout from Highland Critical Minerals, completing its listing in late spring 2026. After conducting exploration on its Red Lake claims, the company identified an opportunity to acquire the Bilton-Brown copper property at what it considered a reasonable price.

The property contains historical mineral showings that Great Red Lake Gold plans to investigate through field sampling and geophysical surveys. The initial work will focus on verifying historical findings, assessing the property's geological potential and gathering information to support a technical report. The historical showings have not yet been verified as compliant with NI 43-101 standards.

Road access is another potential advantage, allowing the company to conduct exploration activities through the winter months rather than relying solely on a limited seasonal fieldwork window.

Morales said the company aims to advance sampling and geophysical work during the remainder of 2026, followed by a more intensive exploration campaign and potential drilling in late winter or early spring 2027. These plans remain subject to permitting, administrative requirements and the results of the initial exploration work.

The company is also considering financing options, including flow-through financing, to support exploration at the greenfield project. Morales highlighted copper's importance as an industrial metal and the growing focus on critical mineral supply, which underpins the company's decision to pursue the opportunity.

The next key milestone is the planned sampling and geophysical campaign, which the company hopes to begin imminently and advance over six to eight weeks. Results from this work will help determine the project's next exploration steps and whether drilling is warranted in 2027.
