Dimension X presents “Universe,” episode 42, originally broadcast on August 2, 1951. This NBC Radio Network drama adapts Robert A. Heinlein’s classic science-fiction story, with a radio script by George Lefferts. Mason Adams stars as Cadet Hugh Hoyland, with Norman Rose as host and announcer.
Aboard a vast, many-decked generation spaceship, Hugh and his friend Alan Mahoney live among people who believe the Ship is the whole of creation. When Hugh seeks the knowledge preserved by John the Witness, he begins to question the rigid beliefs and fearful legends governing life on the lower levels. This broadcast is a rebroadcast of Dimension X’s November 26, 1950 presentation.
Old Time Sci-Fi Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
