Show Notes
Kia ora Welcome to another episode with Mal and Dwayne. This time we are lucky enough to have MAGIC MIKE steal the show. He talks training, what it was like to race Ring of Fire, and his mental game during the event. We were lucky to ask him all the nitty gritty questions and are really grateful to have him on.
Mike Lea announced the upcoming "practice Backyard" event happening at Barge Park on 24th April from 10pm to 6am. This is a great opportunity to try out your gear, shoes, fueling ,set-up etc., before doing a backyard event. Reach out to His & Hers for registration.
Also, Dwayne and I are promoting the Northland 100 Entries giveaway event called the Watchless Race. This is held on Anzac Weekend, 26th April at 2PM at the Te Pohe Island Playground Carpark. We will announce the course the day of the event, in summary you are to guess what time you can run the course we provide (will be around 2-4km) and NOT be allowed to use your watch. Hence the name ;) Then the folks closest to their guessed times to run their actual times will WIN the free entry tickets to the Northland 100. Looking forward to seeing y'all there.

Kia ora welcome to another episode of Chafing the Dream with Mal and Dwayne.
Kia ora Welcome to a funnnn episode of several different voices besides the usual Mal and Dwayne yarning and yarning and yarning away. I don't know if you can tell at this point, but I (Mal) writes the pod description and truly believe nobody even reads this bloody thing. Anyways...
This week Mal and Dwayne share their recent training progress, Mal has an updated lift program which she is very excited about and Dwayne is staring down the barrel of the Taupo 100km in a little over 3 weeks. They also go over the recent results from the local half marathon, as well as Dwayne's experience running as the 1:40 pacer. Lastly the up coming mile series has both Dwayne and Mal very excited. And it's not just that Mal is excited to hear a measurement in the imperial units. The track has a special place in her heart and she's hoping more people will discover this passion. So hold on to your earbuds as this might turn into a track podcast for a few weeks. If you want to sign up to race The Mile you can do so here: https://hatea.run/event/the-mile/ Entry closes 4th Oct.
