Show Notes

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, “The Parrot’s Bed (Unedited Dramatic Portion),” originally broadcast on CBS on August 4, 1950. This is episode 95 of the hard-boiled detective series, starring Gerald Mohr as private investigator Philip Marlowe and produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell.

Marlowe is paid $500 to find missing sailor Lash Lauterback, but the trail soon points toward a map and a cache of valuable black pearls. This surviving presentation is the unedited dramatic portion, without the usual music bridges, and runs shorter than a complete broadcast.

Old Time Retro Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
