Show Notes
There's a chill in the air, baseball playoffs on TV, and candy on sale. You know what means? That's means it's almost Halloween. Come on along for some cool new music, and a chat with Rex & Christina of Big Stir Records about the label's new seasonal release: Chilling, Thrilling Hooks And Haunted Harmonies: The Big Stir Records Halloween Grimoire. Contrary to all that, this is not the Mod Mod World's annual modcast. Fear not, is still to come with modcaster extraordinaire DJ Ken handing out the candy as always. Check all the past halloween modcasts here.
And for the first time ever, a video modcast interview! In 19 seasons, with almost 600 modcasts under my belt, and this is the very first time I've recorded a video. First time for everything eh. Check it out on the modcast homepage.
As always find a complete track list, a bonus third set of songs, and all the important links to all the important stuff over on the modcast homepage at http://www.mistersuave.com/2025/10/modcast-589-pre-season-warmup.html.

Join me for a deep dive into the nation's capitol, not the swampy reflecting pool, no I am turning the wayback machine to the early 80s and the beginnings of the mod revival in Washington DC.
Welcome to the wild side of the mod beginnings, the wild, wooly, often whacky, world of freakbeat. What is freakbeat? Good question and depending on who you ask people will tell you the sound of freakbeat includes everything from The Dave Clark Five to The Pretty Things, Herman's Hermits to The Beatles to The Action to even The Supremes. Anyhow here's my answer to that question. Let's take a walk on the wild side.
