Our Cargo Ship Was Sinking. Then the Crew Started Disappearing.

The MV Copaxi is three weeks into a transatlantic voyage when a rogue wave slams into the aging cargo ship, rupturing her forward bulkheads and sending freezing North Atlantic water pouring into the vessel.

The order comes over the intercom:

All hands. Abandon ship.

But while the crew races for the lifeboats, Zeke makes a decision that may cost him his life. Three younger crewmen have ignored the evacuation order and gone below deck for supplies. With the ship rapidly sinking beneath him, Zeke heads into the flooding darkness to bring them back.

Down there, he hears something.

A scream.

A splash.

And then he sees two enormous sulfur-yellow eyes moving toward him through the black water. Whatever is swimming through the flooded holds isn't human—and the sinking ship may not be the greatest danger facing the crew.

Because when Zeke finally makes it back to the main deck, he discovers something impossible:

The lifeboats are still there.

But the crew is gone.
