Jeff Howe, CJ Vogel and Hank South evaluate Texas’ 2026 freshman class at the halfway point of the season. Jermaine Bishop Jr., Richard Wesley and Derrek Cooper have separated themselves as the Longhorns’ “Big Three,” and the offense consistently looks more dangerous when Bishop and Cooper are involved. With Texas entering must-win territory, both freshmen need significantly larger roles during the second half of the season.

Jeff Howe, Bobby Burton and Rod Babers identify realistic in-season fixes for a Texas offense producing three-and-outs at a historically poor rate. The Longhorns must simplify the attack, turn perimeter throws to Ryan Wingo and Jermaine Bishop into an extension of the running game and repeatedly use the bunch, stack and unbalanced formations that have already generated explosive plays. The message for Steve Sarkisian is clear: stop abandoning what works and play the hits.
