Acts 5:32 says God gives the Holy Ghost "to them that obey him" - A.W. Tozer Sermon Breakdown Pt 5, "The Promised Filling of the Holy Spirit." Matt Hepner and TopLobsta read Tozer on being filled with the Spirit instantly, not gradually, and why we are as full as we want to be.
Tozer opens with three passages: Acts 5:32, Luke 11:13 and Galatians 3:2-3. Persons filled with the Spirit always knew they were filled; it was an instant act, not a gradual filling. Along the way we talk about testing the spirits, gold dust and angel feathers, and whether being slain in the Spirit is a learned response. Then Tozer's conditions: the Holy Spirit will expect obedience to the written Word, He will not tolerate the self sins, and you will not run your own life after the Holy Ghost is given control. We close on hunger and thirst, disturbance before the filling, and being happy with God alone. Pt 5 of Tozer's ten messages on the Holy Spirit.
