The Adventures Of Philip Marlowe | Old Time RadioShow Notes
The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, “Robin and the Hood,” originally broadcast August 19, 1947, is episode 10 of NBC’s 1947 summer series. Van Heflin stars as hard-boiled private detective Philip Marlowe in this Pepsodent-sponsored broadcast, produced by Jim Fonda.
Marlowe is hired to protect Caxton Spencer, the star of a Technicolor Robin Hood film, from Spencer’s identical twin—a gifted archer whose instability makes the danger all too real. The case takes Marlowe through Hollywood’s movie-making world, from film-set trailers to a mountain lodge, where performance and identity begin to blur.
