Pinnacle Silver and Gold plans drilling at El Potrero after high-grade silver discoveries

Pinnacle Silver and Gold CEO Robert Archer joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss plans for a diamond drilling program at the company’s EL Potrero project in Durango, Mexico, following the discovery of silver-gold-lead-zinc mineralization on the Maria Fernanda 2 (MF2) concession.

Archer said the company is advancing permitting for the proposed drilling campaign, which is intended to investigate the extent and potential continuity of the polymetallic mineralization identified during earlier exploration work.

While permitting progresses, Pinnacle plans to conduct detailed geological mapping and sampling on the northern El Potrero claim block. The work will follow up on the discovery of silver-rich veins that returned assay results of up to 1,159 grams per tonne silver, helping the company identify additional targets for exploration.

Following extensive mapping and sampling at MF2, Pinnacle believes the polymetallic mineralization could represent an extension of the system associated with the nearby Topia Mine, located approximately four kilometres to the southwest.

Archer explained that the mineralized veins at MF2 generally trend northeast to southwest, similar to the structures observed in the Topia district. This differs from the predominantly northwesterly orientation of the gold-silver veins found in the northern part of the Potrero property. The contrasting structural trends may indicate that the two mineralized systems formed during separate periods of hydrothermal activity.

The company believes several geological features at MF2, including alteration patterns, vein textures and elevation, point to the possibility that significant mineralization has been preserved relatively close to surface.

Exploration has identified a series of generally northeast-southwest-trending structures exposed intermittently across approximately 1,500 metres of strike length. These structures contain variable gold, silver, lead and zinc mineralization within veins and breccia.

Pinnacle has also identified elevated mercury levels throughout the area. The company views this as supporting its interpretation that the MF2 mineralization may represent the upper levels of a mid-sulphidation epithermal vein system similar to that found in the Topia mining district.

At Topia, mineralized horizons can extend for more than four kilometres along strike and typically occur below elevations of 1,900 metres above sea level. By comparison, the surface elevation at MF2 ranges from approximately 2,200 to nearly 2,400 metres above sea level.
