From the original conquistadors and missionaries to the persecution of Catholics in the 20th century, the history of Catholicism in America is multifaceted. So today, we are grateful to have Dr. Christopher Shannon to join Andrew Petiprin to discuss this checkered history in America which he records in his book American Pilgrimage. They begin by discussing the central importance of Our Lady of Guadalupe and then work sequentially through the centuries as they highlight the various roles that the certain Catholic individuals as well as the shifting Catholic culture shaped America today. We are blessed to Catholics in America, and we pray for our country on this special anniversary of its founding.
