Years ago, Gina Livy was eating less, exercising more, and still gaining weight. Back then, nobody was talking about insulin, cortisol or hormones. Looking back, Gina connects the dots: stress, sleep, and the difference between eating fewer calories and eating less food. A sugary coffee, a muffin and a slice of pizza can feel like you've barely eaten. That's how The Livy Method started, as a lifestyle program nobody wanted to buy. She explains why counting calories falls short when your hunger changes day to day, and how differently foods break down, from fruit in about half an hour to red meat over five, which matters more than you'd think before a night out dancing. She also argues for starting small with movement and building strength for who you'll be in 10 years, not who you used to be.
This podcast aligns with Day 45 of our Fall Program, members can find video in our Livy Method app or Livy Method Community Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethod

More from Liv Lighter with Gina
If you ran your business the way you take care of yourself, would it succeed?
If you think you're failing, your brain will go find the proof.
Some weeks, the whole goal is just to keep it together. Gina Livy is in one of those weeks, and Odette is coming through a year of loss and big family change. Together they unpack why self-awareness, not food, is the real work. They dig into how beating yourself up stacks a second problem on top of the first, why so many women were raised to believe putting themselves first is selfish, and how to cut back gently, a few bites at a time, instead of restricting your way into a binge.
You ate a little less all week and the scale didn’t budge. That doesn’t mean it isn’t working.
Maintenance isn’t the finish line. It’s where the work gets personal. Gina Livy and Odette talk about what keeping weight off really looks like for women in midlife: trusting how you feel over what the scale says, giving your weight a range to move in instead of a number to defend, and letting go of the weight you carry that was never physical. That last idea is the heart of Gina’s new book, Liv Lighter, which is now available at Indigo.ca.
