Beetaloo Energy Australia Ltd managing director Alex Underwood talked with Proactive about progress at the Carpentaria Pilot Project, results from the Carpentaria-5H flow test, the company’s financial position and its plans to develop additional markets for Beetaloo Basin gas.
Underwood said Beetaloo Energy was moving closer to commencing pilot gas sales from Carpentaria, with the major equipment for the gas plant now on site and final electrical and construction work underway.
“We expect to be selling our first gas later this quarter,” Underwood said.
The interview also covered the launch of Beetaloo Digital, an initiative aimed at developing additional demand for the company’s gas through behind-the-meter power generation and data centres. Underwood said access to reliable power had become a major constraint on data centre development globally and argued that the Northern Territory’s gas and solar resources could provide an opportunity to support future digital infrastructure.
On funding, Underwood said Beetaloo Energy was “fully funded to first gas”, with cash and undrawn credit facilities providing the company with a solid financial position as it focuses on execution.
He also discussed increasing activity across the wider Beetaloo Basin, including developments involving Tamboran Resources, Santos and INPEX, saying greater investment could increase access to equipment, services and personnel while helping reduce costs.
