How to strength train as an athlete with or without access to a gym? In this week's episode, I go through how you should (or could) strength train as a badminton player based on the solid work that Badminton Sweden has done in their player development plan. Unfortunately they are only in swedish, but you can follow the link to check them out: https:/ /badminton.nu/elit/elitprogrammet-och-spelarutvecksplan . What I really like is that Badminton Sweden has developed several documents about player development ranging from strength training to physical requirements and even tactical things such as game concept. In the episode you will hear me talk about and go over the program "strength training for badminton players" and give my opinions and suggestions/corrections on various exercises, things I would do different and more. I do not critizise the program, this is just my way of giving you more tools in your toolbox to reach your full potential! Soon my own strength training program for badminton players will be released, but for now you will have to stick to the three I have done so far where I strongly recommend you to check out "The Protected Player" as well as "Training for tall athletes" if you want to get effective programs for your strength training (the latter works for all different heights of players). You can find all the training programs I have done here: https://www.sugiyamabadminton.com/badminton-training-program

In this episode, I break down the beginner strength programme we created for badminton players. I explain how to add repetitions to selected exercises, why the entire programme should not progress at once, and how exercises can become more challenging from Week 5.
Are 4×4 intervals, 400-metre repeats and brutal multishuttle sessions actually making you a better badminton player, or are they just making you tired?
In Sweden we have now started with the new scoring system and it's awful. However, there are some differences that we can (and must) take advantage of. The main things are warm-up and variation. Listen to the episode and let me know what you think about the change.
In this episode, I explain what badminton players and other individual athletes can learn from Zlatan Ibrahimović.
In this episode, I sit down with Team Denmark strength and conditioning coach, Mads Brink Hansen (@styrkemads) to explore what it really takes to build world-class badminton athletes. From the evolution of training in elite sport to the upcoming switch to 3x15 scoring, Mads breaks down how recovery, individuality, and smart programming shape performance at the highest level.
