In March 2026, Gypsy Rose Blanchard appeared in a TikTok joking about murder. In August, leaked prison recordings surfaced — calls from 2020 and 2021 where she told a friend she hoped Ken Urker would overdose. Ken was publicly humiliated. He started sleeping with a gun. By September, the relationship had ended. On October 1, 2026 — his thirty-fourth birthday — Ken Urker was found dead with drug paraphernalia at the scene. A cause of death is pending. Thirteen days later, Gypsy was on Instagram. Before the recordings, the media tour had already established the brand: Good Morning America, CNN, The View, a Lifetime deal, a memoir, the Kardashians, and a podcast appearance where she said she doesn't associate herself as a murderer. Bryan Kohberger initialed nine pages of plea paperwork when he pleaded guilty to the University of Idaho murders in July 2025. One question on the plea form asked whether he'd been coerced, and he checked "no." A year later, his petition accused his own defense team of coercing him and claimed he's innocent. Judge Steven Hippler cleared the whole schedule on October 14, 2026, and no hearing is on the calendar. Before the plea, lead attorney Anne Taylor warned Hippler in a sealed memo that her client couldn't rationally assess the case. She asked for more time, and Hippler denied it. The court has ordered that memo shared with prosecutors. Prosecutors want the petition dismissed outright with no hearing. They call it bare and unsupported, and they say Idaho law doesn't recognize his claim of innocence. I'm joined by Robin Dreeke, former chief of the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, and trial attorney Bob Motta on whether prosecutors can kill this petition on paper. Matthew Farwell's twin brother William promised Sandra Birchmore in October 2020 that he wouldn't say a word about her and Matthew, and on October 27th he told a federal jury what else he kept to himself. Testifying with immunity, William said he and Matthew talked about Matthew's other affairs but never about Sandra while she was alive. As he tells it, the State Police sergeant on her case said he needed it closed out and would try to leave William out of his report. William said Matthew later told him State Police had copied his phones, and that he'd wiped them first. On cross, Matthew's lawyers got William to say he doesn't recall being inside Sandra's apartment on January 10th, 2021, part of their push to leave jurors unsure whose DNA is on the strap. The Norfolk District Attorney's office declined to charge anyone in the Sandra Birchmore case after medical examiner Dr. María del Mar Capó-Martínez ruled the death a suicide. At Matthew Farwell's federal trial, she testified the police paperwork arriving with Sandra's body had already presented her death as a suicide, no foul play involved. She testified her office never got a call to the apartment. Prosecutors say she never learned about Farwell's texts with Sandra, or about video of him going in and out of Sandra's building. Farwell, once a Stoughton police detective, pleaded not guilty in the deaths of Sandra Birchmore and her unborn child. In April 2026 the doctor amended her ruling to undetermined. According to prosecutors, the original ruling came too early and relied on misinformation, but Farwell's lawyers claim federal prosecutors leaned on her to change it. Former Stoughton, Massachusetts police officer William Farwell testified under immunity at the Farwell trial, where his twin brother Matthew is accused of killing Sandra Birchmore and her unborn child. Matthew pleaded not guilty. William's immunity keeps his words on the stand from being used to prosecute him. Asked by a prosecutor, he admitted being intimate with Sandra while on the clock as a Stoughton officer. By his account, the two became involved in 2018, once Sandra was an adult. Investigators say William told State Police he hadn't seen Sandra since December 2020. They say messages tell a different story: on January 10, 2021, the two met after midnight outside her building. Ken Urker was found dead on his 34th birthday with a holstered gun, two shot glasses and a syringe on his nightstand, and Gypsy Rose now says she's certain it wasn't suicide. In Boston, Sandra Birchmore's best friend and therapist testified on October 23rd; the defense used a 2020 KMS message and her new antidepressant to argue suicide, and her therapist answered that Sandra never expressed a suicidal thought in five years. In Arizona, Melani Pawlowski texted Brandon Boudreaux for his new address two weeks before someone shot at him, and police say Alex Cox's Gmail looked it up 13 hours before.
