Show Notes
In this episode, Alana sits down with Evan Cudworth, who calls himself the world's first party coach, for an unscripted conversation about parties, food, alcohol, and what it actually takes to enjoy yourself in a room full of people. Alana tells a story from her mid-twenties she hasn't told on the show before: going to every event she was supposed to go to, then standing in the corner with her arms folded the entire night, eye-rolling, thinking this sucks, everyone sucks. Evan tells the story of a beach party at a low point in his life, and the stranger who put a hand on his shoulder and said one sentence that redirected everything after it. Most women walk into a party believing the food and the drinks hold all the power. It's there, so I have to have it. Alana takes that sentence apart directly. Evan makes the case that the room itself is the arena where confidence, insecurity, connection, and escape all get practiced, and that what you're really there for was never the thing on the table. They also get into the part almost nobody names: what it costs to stop being the person who doesn't have fun, and why that identity is harder to put down than the food is. This episode is for the woman who is composed and capable all week and then can't get through a wedding, a dinner party, or a work event without negotiating with herself the whole time. Who says no to things she'd genuinely like to go to. Who has done years of work on food and still comes home from a party either depleted or convinced she blew it. Alana and Evan get into what actually changes your experience of the room, and it is not more willpower at the table. Guest Info: Evan Cudworth is the world's first party coach. More from Emotional Eating Unwrapped
You go hiking with your family, and afterward everyone piles into the same diner and you order the greasiest thing on the menu, because that's just what you do after a hike. Then it's the weekend and the rules quietly loosen. Then you burned 600 calories this morning, so you've earned this. Alana walks through the mindset blocks running underneath emotional eating, the ones you've been carrying around as facts about yourself, and what it actually takes to see them.
You ate clean all day and still ended up in the kitchen at night. Alana makes the case that the food was never the temptation, it’s the energy you’ve been metabolizing all day. The pings, the scrolling, the people, the commute. She covers why constant stimulation leaves you depleted, the question that reveals who you actually are energetically, and what yoga taught her about holding a sensation instead of releasing it.
By four in the afternoon you are edgy, short with everyone, and standing at the pantry before you have registered that anything is wrong. In this episode Alana walks through what is actually happening in your body in the hour before that, and why the question may not be how to stay calm, but how to catch yourself sooner.
You put the slice down and wait for someone to tell you that was the right call. No one does. In this episode of Emotional Eating Unwrapped, Alana Kessler gets into what it takes to hold yourself to your own standard around food when there is no meal plan, no coach, and no calorie limit behind the decision. The better question may not be, “How do I stay accountable?” but “Who am I actually accountable to?”
You finished your work day. You sat in traffic for three hours. You got through the day, so you eat, and it wasn’t the food you planned on. In this episode of Emotional Eating Unwrapped, Alana Kessler unpacks the “I deserve to eat this” mentality: why it shows up after something draining, how it quietly becomes a habit, and why it is so often a reaction rather than a decision you actually made. The better question may not be, “Do I deserve this?” but “Which version of me is making this call?”
