Christa Pike’s Execution Left Behind WHAT Evidence?!

Christa Pike’s failed September 30, 2026 execution has produced a court order directing Tennessee officials to preserve the equipment and records from the procedure. The order followed a confrontation between her attorneys’ claims about failed IV lines and the corrections department’s assertion that its team followed the protocol. Pike received two doses of pentobarbital and survived. Her lawyers say the drug leaked into surrounding tissue and left serious injuries. Those allegations echo warnings in a lawsuit filed before the execution, when her team described thrombocytosis and difficult veins and sought a different needle and trained staff. Tennessee had disputed that any special risk was established. Judge I’Ashea Myles ordered the preservation of drugs, syringes, IV lines, execution logs, photographs and messages. The reason is straightforward: if the equipment is discarded or the records disappear, an independent examination of what happened could be impossible. The state has said it followed its lawful procedure, including its limit after the second dose. Additional reporting from 911 recordings shows confusion over whether calls for emergency assistance were authentic. Responders waited while prison staff and dispatchers sought confirmation. Pike survived hospitalization and has returned to prison as Governor Bill Lee’s pause on executions and review remain in effect. Tony Brueski brings the legal perspective of Eric Faddis and the investigative experience of Jennifer Coffindaffer to the question of what those records can establish. Pike’s conviction for the murder of Colleen Slemmer is not in dispute here. What remains unresolved is whether Tennessee can explain its failed execution and legally attempt to carry out the sentence again. Sandra Birchmore was found dead in her Canton apartment in February 2021, and local investigators called it suicide. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins me to break down the testimony that now has the investigation itself on trial. Prosecutors say Matthew Farwell, a Stoughton detective, was caught on camera entering her building in a mask that night. State troopers questioned him in a school parking lot. A State Police examiner found nothing on his phone and gave it back. The Norfolk District Attorney declined charges based on the suicide ruling. Now Stoughton's former deputy chief has testified he saw the lobby footage online, like his chief. Eric explains the difference between a sloppy investigation and a protected one, and which side of that line this case falls on. Matthew Farwell faces life in prison if a federal jury finds he killed Sandra Birchmore to stop her from reporting him. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis lays out the evidence the defense has to get past. According to prosecutors, Farwell met Sandra through the Stoughton police youth program when she was a teenager and the relationship began when she was 15. They say she was pregnant and believed he was the father when she died in February 2021. DNA later showed he wasn't, but prosecutors say Farwell thought he was. The government says his DNA was on the strap found with her body, that he was on camera in a mask that night, and that he deleted their messages. His lawyers say Sandra was upset because he was ending it. Eric explains why the motive question could decide this case. What really happened to Sandra Birchmore inside the Stoughton Police Department spans more than a decade, involves three officers, and according to the department’s own former chief — the coverup is still underway. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, author of Nightbird, examines every layer of the case in a comprehensive four-part interview. Sandra entered a police youth program as a grieving child. The officers who ran it allegedly spent years targeting her. Matthew Farwell allegedly killed her the night before his wife’s delivery. His twin brother allegedly participated knowing Sandra was pregnant. Robert Devine ran the program and attacked Sandra’s credibility after her death. Chief Donna McNamara opened a second investigation and says she was told to destroy the report. She is now on leave. Scott traces the psychological thread from what was done to Sandra’s mind through the officers who did it to the institution that is allegedly still protecting them. JP Miller went from leading Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach to allegedly preaching to roughly fifteen people. On Homicide Happy Hour, former thirty-year pastor Timmy Gibson said those fifteen people are in a cult and don't know it. He confirmed that assessment with psychotherapist Shavaun Scott. Gibson recognized Miller's sermons immediately. He quotes Miller allegedly preaching that wives who fail to satisfy their husbands will find the devil sending twenty replacements. Miller stands charged federally — cyberstalking and making false statements. He has maintained his innocence. Mica Miller's death in April 2024 was ruled a suicide. Miller faces no charges in connection with her death. Gibson called Miller a very dangerous person and said he would not be surprised if Miller escalated, given enough time and isolation. Alex Murdaugh was back in a South Carolina courtroom in a suit and tie on October 16, getting ready for his double murder retrial. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins me to go through what Judge Debra McCaslin decided. The defense can test unidentified DNA from Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails and phone, over the state's objection that it could use up the samples. The state has to turn over original crime-scene scan data. The defense doesn't get ballistics records from unrelated shootings. McCaslin also put on the record that Murdaugh failed a polygraph about hiding financial records, after his lawyer had claimed he passed one. Prosecutors won't say whether a grand jury is examining a police officer friend of Murdaugh's. Eric explains what each ruling means for the April 5 trial.
