Today I happened across my daughter for the first time in 3 years. I did not get to talk with her....She did not even see me. But I got the opportunity to lay eyes on her for the first time in 1090 days.
It took all of my training, and a heavy dose of "sense" to pull away, without yelling out her name.
I know, it is up to her to initiate contact. She has made that abundantly clear, and I will listen.
But, oh, it was so so so so hard.
Here is how I have processed it so far. I hope my experience can resonate with other estranged parents too.
