Delta Gold Technologies Plc CEO Michael Jones Steve Darling from Proactive’s OTC studio in New York City to discuss the company’s work developing technology and intellectual property in quantum computing, with gold at the centre of its approach.

Jones explained that Delta Gold Technologies is collaborating with Penn State University in the US and the University of Toronto in Canada, with researchers at both institutions working together on the technology. The company is investigating properties of gold that it believes could offer advantages in developing qubits, the fundamental building blocks of quantum computers.

“We discovered something about gold that was very unique, that gives it a capability to be more stable and also ability to scale this to make millions of them,” Jones said.

Jones said the company’s approach is differentiated from other areas of quantum computing research and discussed the potential for quantum computers to address highly complex modelling and computational problems. He also highlighted the potential for quantum computing to eventually work alongside language models and artificial intelligence.

The university collaborations have also expanded the company’s research into other applications. Delta Gold Technologies is now pursuing quantum sensing, while quantum communications has also been identified as another potential technology vertical.

Looking ahead, Jones said the company is focused on advancing its technology and protecting potentially valuable intellectual property through patent filings. Delta Gold Technologies has set a longer-term goal of having devices or licensable intellectual property available by 2028.

The UK-based company is also evaluating potential collaboration with a UK university as it continues to develop its research programme and explore commercial applications for its gold-based quantum technology.
