Socialism Crisis: A Midterms Warning From Historian Victor Davis Hanson & Ex-Democrat Insider Evan Barker – Ask Dr. Drew – Ep 681
Ask Dr. DrewShow Notes
America faces a historic crisis as the midterm elections force voters to choose between free-market capitalism and state-subsidized socialism, warns legendary historian Victor Davis Hanson.
“Rarely in American history have the two parties been so far apart or the choice between them so stark,” he writes. Hanson says decades of trust in universities, media newsrooms, and federal bureaucracies have already evaporated, sparking a grassroots backlash ahead of the election – but it’s still unclear which side will be victorious.
Evan Barker is all too familiar with the crumbling Leftist establishment amidst its Socialist infiltration. After raising tens of millions of dollars for Democrats – so deeply inside their machine that she was present when Bernie Sanders and AOC first met – Barker says her breaking point happened on the floor of the 2024 Democratic National Convention. She joins Dr. Drew to tell why she left the Left, how the progressive movement has been hijacked by the very billionaires it claims to oppose, and the behind-the-scenes look into the DNC in her new book “Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative.”
Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is an American military historian, columnist, former classics professor, and scholar of ancient warfare. He has written or edited 26 books, including “The Counterrevolution: The Fall and Rise of Donald Trump and the MAGA Movement” and “The Dying Citizen.” Follow at https://x.com/VDHanson
Evan Barker is a former Democratic campaign operative and political strategist. A first-generation college graduate, Barker earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in 2015. A columnist, Substack writer, and podcast host, Evan lives in Northern California. She is the author of “Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative.” Follow at https://x.com/evanwch
