On the first Homicide Happy Hour, former thirty-year pastor Timmy Gibson traced the line between Caleb Flynn and JP Miller. Flynn was convicted on all nine counts in Ashley Flynn's murder and sentenced to life without parole. Miller faces federal cyberstalking and false statements charges. He has pleaded not guilty and is not charged in Mica Miller's death. Gibson says Flynn's tears at church were the product of a theology where sin creates false humility and drives you closer to God. Marc Flasterstein wrote "Munchausen by proxy" in Gypsy Rose Blanchard's chart after a muscle biopsy at Tulane came back negative. The biopsy confirmed Gypsy's muscles were healthy. The chart said Dee Dee Blanchard was fabricating her daughter's illness. Flasterstein never reported it. That note sat in a file while Dee Dee continued — pulling Gypsy's teeth, removing her salivary glands, shaving her head, and maintaining a feeding tube in a child who could eat. Charities gave Dee Dee a free house. Make-A-Wish sent Gypsy to Disney World. The Oley Foundation treated them as a family in crisis. Hurricane Katrina wiped the medical records in 2005, and Dee Dee moved to Springfield, Missouri, with nothing trailing her. Sandra Birchmore entered a police explorer program as a twelve- or thirteen-year-old girl. The officers who allegedly targeted her had unchecked access to vulnerable minors through that program. No meaningful background checks. No oversight. Multiple officers have been named in the alleged pattern of conduct that lasted years. Only Matthew Farwell has been federally indicted — and only for the murder. When Sandra's body was found, Farwell was treated as a colleague, not a suspect. Local investigators never formally interrogated him on camera. Building surveillance allegedly placed him at her apartment in the window prosecutors call critical. The case was initially closed as self-inflicted without a single warrant. The same DA's office and CPAC unit involved here overlap with the Karen Read investigation. The federal government had to intervene because local law enforcement wouldn't investigate its own. If Farwell is convicted, the accountability question extends well past one officer. The system that gave him access to Sandra when she was a child is the system that closed her case. Two women who knew Sandra Birchmore best took the stand in the Matthew Farwell murder trial on October 23rd, and both described a woman getting ready to be a mother. Lindsey Crean, her friend since middle school, said Sandra called her ecstatic in December 2020 and believed the baby was an angel sent by her late mother. Crean also told jurors she saw Farwell in the black pickup that picked Sandra up years earlier. Therapist Diala Alkhalil testified that on January 31st, 2021, Sandra said she feared something would happen to her in her Canton apartment. Prosecutors say Farwell strangled her there the next day, and he has pleaded not guilty. Farwell's lawyer suggested the pickup belonged to his twin brother, then turned to Sandra's history, from a 2020 text to the medication she'd just started. Her last questions were about what Sandra saw. The therapist's cross-examination resumes Monday, October 26th.
