Show Notes
Gunsmoke presents “Xmas Story,” episode 35 of the classic radio series, originally broadcast on CBS on December 20, 1952. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester, Howard McNear as Doc Adams, and Georgia Ellis as Kitty Russell. Written by Antony Ellis and directed by Norman Macdonnell.
On a cold Christmas Eve near Dodge City, Matt is stranded on the winter prairie when a passing stranger offers him a ride. As they make their slow way through the snow, Matt recalls an earlier Christmas in town—a reflective holiday story of lamplit streets, familiar friends, and the small rituals that bring Dodge together.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
