Low Carb Down Under

Jessie Reimers - 'The Heart Foundation Petition'

Low Carb Down Under

Summary

Jessie Rymers, a health advocate, voices her concerns regarding the Australian Heart Foundation's dietary recommendations, which she believes contribute to chronic health issues. Rymers shares her personal health struggles, including severe fatigue and gut problems, which she attributes to poor dietary advice she received from medical professionals. She criticizes the promotion of margarine over butter, arguing that margarine is highly processed and harmful, while butter contains beneficial properties.

Rymers has initiated a petition aimed at changing the Heart Foundation's guidelines, which she claims are influenced by corporate sponsors like Nestle and Unilever. She highlights the inconsistency in the Foundation's stance on sugar and fat, noting that while they warn against sugar in soft drinks, they endorse low-fat products that contain high levels of sugar. With nearly 60,000 signatures on her petition, Rymers encourages the public to advocate for better nutritional advice and to challenge the current dietary guidelines.

Roblox Founder and CEO David Baszucki and his wife, Jan Ellison Baszucki, share the story of how ketogenic metabolic therapy (aka ketogenic diet) resolved all bipolar symptoms for their son. After four months on the diet, their son’s 5-year battle with bipolar disorder ended and his symptoms went into remission. While medications may have saved his life, nutritional ketosis gave him his mind back. Two years later, he is thriving, with zero signs of psychiatric illness. David and Jan shared their story as part of the first Metabolic Psychiatry retreat in Santa Barbara in May, 2022. Their family philanthropy, Baszucki Group, has launched the Metabolic Mind initiative to provide education in metabolic psychiatry. The Baszucki Brain Research Fund supports clinical trials of metabolic interventions like nutritional ketosis / ketogenic diets for mental health. The conference brought together physicians, neuroscientists, dieticians, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and philanthropists to build community in the emerging field of Metabolic Psychiatry. Experts discuss new approaches that have the potential to transform our understanding and treatment of mental illness.Learn more about metabolic psychiatry and meet the visionary Metabolic Mind Award Winners at https://tinyurl.com/Baszucki-Group Metabolic Mind™ is a nonprofit initiative incubated by Baszucki Group.
