We spend a lot of time on our screens, looking at things that aren’t always strictly necessary – and might sometimes be a bit secret. And yet we are, of course, 'so busy'...

After seeing them only a few seconds, certain people prompt us to dream of spending forever with them. Crushes are sweet and deeply romantic, in a way. They are also an immature form of madness we should outgrow.

Loving someone isn’t enough to guarantee we will know how to care for them. For this, we need to learn to understand the distinctive way in which they need our love to manifest itself in order for it to feel real to them.

We hear a lot about how to speak well in public, but very little about how to learn the equally important art of listening properly to others.

We tend to feel very alone with the challenges of our own sex lives – but thereby miss a general truth: there isn’t anyone on the planet for whom sex hasn’t been, either now or at some point, an acutely difficult subject.
