🌊 Charles Gibson has spent much of his life working with young people — first as a teacher and school principal, and now through Surfing for Life in Taranaki. In this episode, we discuss why young people need to learn how to fail, the impact phones are having on social skills, resilience, confidence, mental health, breathing, money, travel, goal setting and why sometimes you just need to get out there and do the thing. Charles also shares how Surfing for Life uses surfing, relationships and practical life skills to help young people build confidence, resilience and better engagement with school. We also talk about his own journey through education, the importance of getting around good people, learning from failure, and why some of life’s most valuable lessons come from doing hard things. A big thank you to Charles for sharing his experience and the work he’s doing with young people. 📧 Join The Mile Extra newsletter: https://themileextra.beehiiv.com/ The Mile Extra explores health, wealth and happiness through conversations with people prepared to go the extra mile.
