Show Notes
Gunsmoke presents “The Tragedian,” episode 342 of the classic CBS radio series, originally broadcast October 26, 1958. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon in this Les Crutchfield script, produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell.
In Dodge City, Dillon prepares for trouble when Brad Kyler may attempt to free his jailed brother. A down-and-out Shakespearean actor, compromised by drink and a questionable card game, adds another volatile element to the tense situation.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
