Clay Muehlstein is an author.
Clay’s life changed at a college frat party when he was charged with a third degree felony for hazing after a fraternity pledge tragically passed away at a party his fraternity hosted. Being suspended indefinitely from college, he agreed to wear a SCRAM alcohol monitor while awaiting trial. One critical mistake changed everything when he woke up in handcuffs and booked into Leon County Jail.
The next four years he would wear a SCRAM monitor over 700 days and have numerous false positive readings. Dragging him back in and out of jail several times. He spent 62 days in LA County Jail and several months in total in Leon County Jail. After spending four years attempting to prove his innocence he decided to plead guilty to an “11/29” deal. Sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail, he ultimately spent just over seven more months with his time in LA and probation earning time off his sentence.
Clay spent six years, most of which while incarcerated, handwriting his memoir Why Me about his experience in and out of jail.
