#144 Mark Skaife - Australian Motosports Legend

This week Brian and Harrison intro the show by covering all the major topics in their lives and within the AFL, including; BT looking after the grand kids down in Lorne, wet day programs in the shed, AFL trade news, Chris Fagan's retirement, a special edition of Reading.Watching.Listening, and plenty more.

Their guest this week is Australian motorsport legend, Mark Skaife. With 5x Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercars Championships and 6x Bathurst 1000 victories to his name, Mark sits comfortably among the all-time greats. He takes the boys back to his early days racing motocross and go-karts, the influence of his dad, and the preparation and technical obsession that helped make him so bloody good behind the wheel.

They cover the icon that is the Bathurst 1000, behind the scenes of the Holden Racing Team, the fear and risk involved in racing at 300km/h, some of his closest calls, the ‘what if’ career moment around an international F1 career, the characters involved in racing scene and the famous Holden vs Ford rivalry.

Now a familiar voice in Australian motorsport broadcasting, Skaife talks about the transition from racing to media, his role in the future and development of the sport, and the moments he looks back on with the most pride.

A fascinating chat with one of Australian sport’s great competitors, full of Bathurst stories, racing characters and plenty of insight into what made Mark Skaife one of the best to ever do it.
