After 20 years in federal politics, including serving as Senate Leader and Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Stephen has seen plenty from the inside. He shares what life in politics is really like, some of the biggest misconceptions people have about politicians, and what he learned about human nature during two decades in the thick of it.
The conversation turns to some big questions facing society right now - whether the social contract between generations is breaking down, the growing influence of the tech giants, our addiction to technology and the challenges AI presents. Stephen also reflects on the state of Australian politics, cost-of-living pressures, housing affordability and our relationship with the United States.
