Jeremy Kyle discusses whether Burnham will now go for an early election? A new mega-poll has handed Prime Minister Andy Burnham and the Labour Party a massive 56-seat Commons majority, with Reform pushing hard in third place right behind the Tories. Latest research by Electoral Calculus finds Labour would win 353 seats in the House of Commons, far ahead of the Tories on 90 seats and Reform UK on 81 seats.
Meanwhile, in the Tory leadership clash... Kemi’s ratings rise with Reform voters after she attacks the party in an ‘only whites can be English’ row! Kemi’s approval leapt from 40 per cent to 57 per cent among Reform UK voters when they were shown video clips of her saying she didn't want to live in a country run by people who 'debate whether my mixed-race children are English'.
Over at Reform UK... Farage has hit back at questions over candidate vetting after ITV News broadcast undercover filming of some of its councillors and candidates using racist, violent and sexist language.
Nigel Farage has insisted Reform UK does not have an issue with vetting and that his party is vetted "to a much higher standard than other parties" but "you can't vet for future comments".
The mother of Henry Nowak’s killer is to be released from prison early. Kiran Kaur, was sentenced to three years in jail for assisting her son, Vickrum Digwa, by removing a murder weapon, after he fatally stabbed Mr Nowak. Digwa is barred from Labour’s early release scheme, but Kaur is eligible to be freed as little as a third of the way through her three-year sentence. That means she could be freed in December – around the anniversary of Mr Nowak’s killing in Southampton – because she spent seven months in custody on remand before her trial. The Home Office say she could be in line for deportation.
Turning to schools... The Education Secretary Lucy Powell is told children will be the losers after she said ‘speaking skills’ will be as important as reading and writing in new plans for GCSEs! Critics and teachers' groups are blasting the overhaul, warning that basic literacy risks being pushed to the backseat!
