Mayhem in France

Talk Breakfast

Show Notes

Jeremy Kyle unpacks the latest with The PM as remember when Andy Burnham said he wants closer ties with Europe?

Well look at the state of it…Absolute mayhem in Paris and Milan for a second night as protests see streets set ablaze and luxury stores looted.

So far there’s been 2 '400 arrests and who does Macron blame? - For once he points the finger at the ‘ultra left’. President Trump blamed immigration for the disorder. Demonstrations were started by teachers and students a month ago in response to staff shortages and have grown into a wider movement against rising prices. And why is the EU so keen to entice Andy Burnham back? Just watch this.. CLIP (That’s right, they want more money! Don’t fall for it Andy!)

Meanwhile back here the BBC has paused a placement scheme for civil servants after The Telegraph revealed Whitehall staff were tasked with writing articles and fact-checking contentious issues such as the small boat crossings and the Covid pandemic. Articles and blog posts published on the BBC website, and seen by The Telegraph, showed that the civil servants had been bylined and credited as members of BBC News and BBC Verify.

And if that’s not enough… The BBC was also accused of 'brainwashing' children after a separate Mail on Sunday investigation revealed its education website is pushing 'extreme' Left-wing views on migration, Net Zero and inequality to millions of pupils. BBC Bitesize – which is promoted by almost every UK state school – encourages children to play an online game called Increasing Immigration, in which they are rewarded for choosing 'open borders' and granting an amnesty to illegal migrants. The BBC say…”While we don't accept the characterisation of BBC Bitesize in this story, we regularly review content to ensure it remains relevant and to ensure it meets the BBC's editorial standards and will review these examples in that context.'

And Foreign prisoners are being given cold-water therapy and breathing sessions in jail, which have been described as similar to “a yoga retreat”. Inmates at HMP Maidstone in Kent, one of three jails in the UK that only hold inmates from abroad, combine the cold-water therapy with breathing exercises. Additional initiatives included practical skills sessions such as soup- and bread-making.
