How To Avoid Burnout Without Giving Up On Your Goals

BREAKTHROUGH with Hayden Brown

Show Notes

Why do you come back from a holiday… and feel flat again within a week?

What if the better question isn’t how to recover from burnout, but what’s driving it?

In this episode of BREAKTHROUGH, Hayden and Greg unpack burnout and chronic exhaustion at the root, not the symptom. More days off, a holiday or even a new job can help for a while… But if you go back to the same conditions, and the same need to prove yourself, justify or get ahead, the same pattern will return.

We explore why burnout is often less about the hours you work and more about your relationship with the work: the meaning you give it, the fears behind it, and what you’re trying to avoid. One person can burn out on a 40-hour week while another carries 60 hours and seems fine.

Greg shares his own experience of burning out in his 20s, and Hayden unpacks why the strategies that get high-achievers ahead can be the same ones wearing them down. We also share one question that can reveal what’s really driving you: if you were to stop, what would come up?

👉 If you’ve ever found yourself:

coming back from a holiday and feeling drained again within days telling yourself you just need to get through this month feeling guilty or anxious the moment you stop working carrying everything because it feels like it’s all up to you

👉 This episode will help you:

recognise whether you’re heading for burnout or just need more sleep identify the fears and beliefs driving you to push so hard design a weekly rhythm of rest you could sustain without needing an escape build your own plan to keep your tank full

The goal of BREAKTHROUGH is to help you uncover the “why” behind your challenges and gain clarity on your next best steps to break the pattern.

This episode explores why rest doesn’t have to be earned, and how understanding what drives your burnout is the first step to breaking the cycle instead of repeating it.
