In this episode of The Morning Marketer we sit down with Josh Ryan, founder of Cleverpreneur and a content creator with over 100K subscribers on YouTube.
Josh's journey started in high school, back in 2014, when he set up an Instagram account posting motivational quotes just for fun. He got his first taste of influencer marketing when he asked a bigger account to shout him out and found out people were charging for it, and from there spent years learning how to grow social accounts from scratch. He finished high school in 2017 and started working with clients on Instagram growth the same year he launched his YouTube channel.
Using eight years of trial and error, Josh built Cleverpreneur into an agency that helps podcasts and YouTube channels across New Zealand grow, handling everything from titles and thumbnails to full production and strategy. One client came to him with under 900 subscribers and is now sitting around 25,000, two years later. Today Josh is based in Auckland, splits his time between his own content and his clients', and has just crossed 100K subscribers on his own channel.
In this conversation, Josh shares why trying to start perfect is what stops most people from starting at all, why he once posted the exact same video on two different platforms and got 2.4 million views on one and 25,000 on the other, and why nearly every client he's ever landed came through his own personal brand, not cold outreach.
Josh gives a candid, practical look at what it actually takes to build a platform over the long term, and proves that consistency beats perfection every time.
