Show Notes

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!

I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…

Lena: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thank you so much for being a teacher to all of us. On your podcast, I have enjoyed learning about different berries. I am just curious, what are your favorite 5 or 6 berries? Thank you!

Raina: Hi Dr. Cabral! I am 15 mos postpartum.. I havnt lost a single lb since the initial weight loss after birth which was 25lbs. I've been sitting at 200 lbs.. doesn't go up, doesn't go down. I have more belly fat than I've ever had. It's def been a rough year, stress has for sure been high, sleep has only just now started getting better. I wrote in a year ago to ask for tips on what to do.. Id say diet is 7/10 … interm. fast for 14 hrs. I've been walking 2-3 miles 4-5x a week, strength training has been less consistent. I'm tryin to balance pushing myself to exercise and knowing what I can physically + mentally handle during this time. I hate what I see in the mirror, hate how I feel. Wish I could detox but don't want to stop bf yet. There has got to be something more I can do. I'm desperate.

Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral! I am a 27yo female at 5'9 and 190lbs. My health history consists of no issues other than the many years of yoyo dieting and weight loss/gain. This year I discovered my love of CrossFit training after many years of trying workouts that never lasted long. My issue is I do not think I am fueling correctly. I know that I am getting adequate calories for the day (while staying in a deficit) but do not think they are being timed correcting. My current routine is 7am wake up, 8am workout, first meal at 1PM, stop eating at 8PM, bed at 10PM. I listened to podcast #3883 and decided I am not fueling correctly after my workouts and maybe not even before the workout for how intense CrossFit is. Any advice on how to optimize my fueling and recovery?

Jenna: I have an autoimmune disease and a horrible gut right now. I was thinking of taking creatine to lean out but would you advise me not to do that? What are your thoughts on creatine?

Matt: Hi Dr Cabral, I had an episode of AFIB in April and during my cardiac workout they found I have an ascending aorta of 4.0cm. This was one note that came up to follow up in a year. Cardiologist gave me no blood thinners and no restrictions. I haven't had an episode of AFIB since, according to all my tests the first month after (7-day holter monitor included) and my Apple watch ECG since then. I'm 45 years old, strength train 3 days per week and 2-3 1 hour jiujitsu classes. Is there anything I can do to reduce the chances of the ascending aorta getting larger, or ideally, anything I can do to tighten it up?
